An agreement on the allocation of the State loan to fund the main phase of the construction of Rooppur NPP is signed

On 26 July, the Intergovernmental agreement on the allocation of the State loan for funding the main phase of construction of the Rooppur NPP in the people's Republic of Bangladesh was signed.
The document was signed by Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak and Deputy Minister- the Secretary of the Economic Relations Division, Bangladesh Ministry of Finance, Mr. Mohammad Mejbahuddin.
According to Senior Vice President of the Group of companies ASE Vladimir Savushkin, "Now the financial and legal framework for the implementation of Rooppur NPP is created. The signing of the IGA on the allocation of the RF state loan clears for us, as the General Contractor, the way to start the main phase of the NPP construction"
For Reference Purposes:
Rooppur NPP construction is carried out subject to the Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in the territory of the people's Republic of Bangladesh of November 2, 2010.
On 25.12.2015 ASE group of companies signed a contract to construct Rooppur nuclear power plant consisting of two VVER power units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW. The NPP construction site is located 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on the east bank of the Ganges river.
The Russian project with VVER-1200 MW power units was selected. Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 was selected as Reference for the project. It is an evolutionary generation III + project which is in full compliance with international safety requirements.
