On 19th June during International Forum Atomexpo-2017 in Moscow, Joint Stock Company Atomstroyexport and the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Zambia signed the contract for preliminary surveying of the site for the Nuclear Science and Technologies Centre in the Republic of Zambia. The Nuclear Science and Technologies Centre will provide an opportunity to Zambia to start developing nuclear technologies and practicing the nuclear technologies in the fields of science, medical industry, geology, agriculture and other fields. The Centre will be fitted with the state-of-the-art equipment to be used for investigations within the framework of the Zambia's National Nuclear Programme; it will facilitate the growth of educational and scientific level in the country. The preliminary engineering surveys are comprehensive studying of natural conditions and made-induced factors on the site for the future Centre. Surveys are required to obtain initial data for designing and construction of the Centre. Signing of the preliminary engineering surveys contract will allow early start of field activities on the site for issuing the grounds of its fitness for construction. The President of the ASE Group of Companies Valery Limarenko announced: "Today we signed the package of documents, laying the foundations for the practical Russian-Zambian cooperation in development of nuclear infrastructure and construction of the Nuclear Science and Technologies Centre in Zambia. The ASE Group of Companies is ready to cooperate with Zambia openly and efficiently to give stride for further development of nuclear technology in the country". References: On 31st of May 2016 the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Zambia signed the Agreement for cooperation in the field of peaceful application of atomic energy. This document created legal platform for interaction between Russian and Zambia in the nuclear industry and declared a wide spectrum of cooperation trends. On 7th of December 2016 the Memoranda were signed on cooperation in education and training of specialists in nuclear power industry; upgrading admissibility of nuclear industry among the public in the Republic of Zambia; in the realm of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety, on peaceful application of atomic energy; and Agreement on development of the Nuclear Science and Technologies Centre Construction Project in the Republic of Zambia.
