Nuclear Fuel Acceptance for Unit 1 of Belarusian NPP

25.05.2020
The incoming inspection of the nuclear fuel (fuel assemblies) of the firstcorefor Unit 1 reactor has been completed at the Belarusian NPP (general designer and general contractor: RosatomEngineering Division).
The incoming inspection was carried out by dedicated experts of the Belarusian NPP in the presence of the General Contractor representatives. Each stage was supervised by officials of the State Atomic Regulator of the Republic of Belarus.
During the acceptance procedure, the specialists checked the accompanying documentation, the external condition of the containers, the integrity of the technical means of the fuel assemblies access indication (seals, special sealing bolts, etc.), the instrumental control of the fuel assemblies. As a result, the inspectors signed thecertificate confirming the proper quality of the supplied fuel.
According to Mikhail Mikhadyuk, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, the specialists of the Belarusian NPP transported fuel to the storage facility with due care and diligence and carried out the fuel incoming inspection at a high professional level.
All fuel assemblies will be kept in the fresh fuel storage facility before being loaded into the reactor of Unit 1.
The Belarusian NPP with two VVER-1200 with the total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built in Ostrovets (the Republic of Belarus). The first Belarusian NPP is based on the Russian Gen 3+ design which fully complies with the international standards and safety recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
