On April 10, results of the large-scale “BIM Management” educational hands-on project were summed up.
BIM Management is an international online project implemented according to the principle of “knowledge in return for results”. As part of the project, the participants were trained in the information modeling technology and completed the first stage of generating a digital model of Nizhny Novgorod.
“I really like the idea of such online project and the way it has ended up. First, it gives professionals the opportunity for professional development and advancement in the ever-changing world of our time. Secondly, its results are quite tangible, they are connected with specific tasks and areas, which is the most essential argument. The advantages of the BIM technologies are obvious, since they reduce significantly the construction risks. This is why it is so important to ensure that this program be focused as well on the regional authorities involved in all life cycles of our projects, from the choice of the construction site up to the long-term operation”, Gleb Nikitin, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, pointed out while speaking about the project’s importance for the region. “I have no doubt that this project has a considerable potential capacity for further development and replication, he said. “I expect this project to become an annual event, I intend to negotiate it with the Rosatom State Corporation leaders“.
1778 people from over 20 countries of the world took part in the training. The leaders of the BIM technology market passed on to the participants their theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills as to how operate the foreign and domestic software.
“The BIM technologies are among the priority areas of development that are a focus of our special attention, at the level of the federal authorities as well,” emphasized Alexey Agafonov, JSC Atomenergoproekt Director for support and development of design production and the Head of the Rosatom State Corporation Industry Competence center, as he summed up the results of the project. - And the six-month work’s result being actually used in practice by the Nizhny Novgorod region’s ministries and government accentuates only that the project has been a successful one. I believe that the gift to the city on the occasion of its 800th anniversary has turned out a success”.
During the summing up, a solemn awards ceremony was held. The victory was claimed by 549 participants from 9 countries. The organizers singled out the best works including the "Best Project", in 9 professional nominations, and 3 other works in special ones. The “Mutual Assistance” nomination emphasized one of the project's main ideas, namely, founding of a community of committed professionals.
