Rosatom organises campaign to transfer books on nuclear technology to large public libraries in Egypt

Cairo, Egypt, July 13, 2021 – Rosatom has donated copies of two books on nuclear energy to large public libraries in Egypt, a number of international schools, and cultural centres in the framework of its participation in the Cairo International Book Fair. Rosatom is overseeing the construction of the Egypt’s El Dabaa NPP.

The books “Nuclear ABC” and “Nuclear Professions” were transferred to Dar Al-Shorouk, Diwan, and Mobtada libraries, amongst others. Copies of the books were also donated to several international schools in Cairo, including Notion International School, Seven Pillars International School, and Princeton International School, amongst others. The books can now also be accessed at Russian Science and Culture centres in Cairo and Alexandria and at the library of the Supreme Council for Culture.

Residents of Egypt’s Matrouh province, the future home of El Dabaa NPP, also have the opportunity to obtain both books from local public libraries, namely the Misr library, the Matrouh Culture Palace library, and the Media Centre library.

Vice President - Director of El-Dabaa NPP Construction Project of JSC ASE, general contractor of the construction at El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, Grigory Sosnin said: “We are glad to see that Egyptian children and adolescents exhibit a keen interest in the topic of atomic energy. The numbers speak for themselves: over the first week of the fair in Cairo, more than 1,500 visitors had already received copies of the books. We understand that not everyone has the opportunity to come to Cairo and visit the fair, so we decided to donate both books to the largest libraries, schools, and educational centres not only in Egypt’s capital, but also in Alexandria and the province of Matrouh. We hope that through our books, Egypt’s youth will learn more about nuclear technologies and the contributions of nuclear energy to the country’s technological and economic development.”

The Cairo International Book Fair will run until July 15, 2021. Both “Nuclear ABC” and “Nuclear Professions” are available at the stand of Rosatom’s partner, the Kotobna publishing house. Kotobna’s stand (number B21) is located in Hall 1. Both books are distributed free of charge and are available as e-books that can be downloaded from the Kotobna electronic library or through the publisher’s mobile application.
