A strategic quality session has been held by the Engineering Division under the chairmanship of Alexander Lokshin, the Rosatom State Corporation First Deputy General Director for Nuclear Energy - ASE EC JSC President.
The event was attended by vice presidents, project managers and area directors, together with PR directors and heads of the Rosatom State Corporation. The event aimed to assess the Engineering Division’s quality performance indicators and discuss key decisions for the development in this area.
Welcoming the participants of the session, Alexander Lokshin pointed out that apart from the timing and cost of NPP construction, which are the two basic criteria to assess the division’s performance, quality is the third performance indicator which is key for the successful implementation of the first ones. According to the president of the company, there are many various definitions of quality. “As for me, to put it quite simply, a job well done is one that does not need to be redone later,” he went on to say.
During the event, the session participants discussed issues related to the divisional processes’ effectiveness, problems arising due to non-conformance management, UIS-Quality system implementation.
According to Alexander Lokshin, the main today's objective of the division's employees in the area of quality is preventing the recurrence of non-conformances. He noted that it was necessary to prevent the recurrence of the non-conformance not only at the facility where it was detected, but also at all the others, where this non-conformance may appear. The participants of the strategic session believe that the non-conformances recurring in NPP construction projects are accounted for by insufficient information about the identified non-conformances and a complicated system for their recording and management. Therefore, during the strategic session, an important development trend was outlined, i.e. generation of an efficient non-conformance management system in order to prevent their recurrence.
In turn, Sergey Gushchin, ASE EC JSC quality director outlined the main tasks for 2021-2022, such as generation of a Unified regulatory documentation framework for the countries of projects business operations and introduction of a procedure for canceling the documents with low views on the Engineering Division portal to prevent an unreasonably large amount of unused documents. Speaking about the customer satisfaction indicators, he focused on the positive trends of development in the Belarus NPP construction project.
For reference: The division implements a large range of quality-related measures, namely: since 2020, the unified Integrated Management System (IMS) has been introduced, certificates have been received to prove ASE JSC, ASE EC JSC, Atomenergoproekt JSC and ATOMPROEKT JSC unified management system’s compliance with the ISO and Rosatomregister requirements. Moreover, the division is taking part this year in the ROSATOM Quality Award competition to assess its level as related to the quality services of other divisions.
