The the coronavirus preventive immunization of the Bangladeshi personnel employed by the Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division subsidiary construction organizations takes the next steps at the construction site of the Rooppur NPP (People's Republic of Bangladesh, PRB).
By using the ASE JSC budget funds, 3,500 Sputnik V vaccine doses were purchased and delivered to Bangladesh; the vaccine is administered by Bangladeshi doctors. Earlier, 1,700 local specialists received COVID-19 vaccination.
Over 15,000 local workers are collectively engaged in work at the construction site. In this regard, Atomstroyexport is negotiating with the PRB Ministry of Health of the NRB on allocation of 10,000 local vaccine doses and set-up of an additional vaccination station in the proximity of the NPP construction site. These measures will allow reaching in the coming months the herd immunity level of at least 80%.
Simultaneously with the vaccine treatment of Bangladeshi specialists, the booster vaccination is administered to the employees from Russia and the CIS countries, working at the Rooppur NPP construction site. For this, another 740 Sputnik V doses are delivered to the construction site, and a group of FMBA doctors have arrived.
According to the opinion of Alexey Deriy, ASE JSC Vice-President - Director of the Rooppur NPP construction Project, these measures are necessary to save the lives of employees and maintain the uninterrupted operation of the construction site.
“The Rooppur NPP construction site has become one of the first Rosatom international projects, where the vaccination treatment campaign was launched more than six months ago. Now we are among the leaders to administer the booster vaccination and offer an opportunity of taking the vaccine treatment to our Bangladeshi colleagues who account for over 75% of all construction workers, since we are aware of all the occupational and social responsibility that we have taken on. It is important for us to meet our commitments, and the vaccination is one of the guarantees of the project timely implementation. Moreover, the COVID-19 vaccination is understood as a socially responsible attitude towards ourselves and those around us and this is how we contribute to the fight against the coronavirus infection,” Alexey Deriy emphasized.
