The interactive science festival AtomMove gathered more than 4 thousand participants in Kurchatov. Within an umbrella of the festival, there were scientific master classes, engineering games, VR-amusements, meetings with scientists, immersive installations and dramatic performances. The event was organized by the Atomic Energy Information Centers (AEIC) with the support of Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division and Kurchatov’s administration.
“It is the third time the team of Kursk AEIC has come to Kurchatov to charge the residents and visitors of the town with positive energy and new knowledge on the nuclear industry, engineering and science. Today, together with the scientists from different historical periods, we are immersing ourselves into the world of scientific discoveries. The activities, which all those who wish can take part in, were specifically developed for the interactive science festival AtomMove and are interesting for both the adults and children”, said Svetlana Zhulyeva, the director of Kursk AEIC.
The main point of attraction at AtomMove festival was the science and art space “The Quantum of Energy”, which united a human being and the digital world in a single whole. A large-scale interactive installation “Quantum” carried the participants to zero-gravity state and allowed them to control starts. A one-man show “Igor Kurchatov” was run every hour in “The Quantum of Energy” space. In “Mendeleev’s Laboratory”, the visitors watched a process of essential oils distillation and tried to create a perfect formula of a uniquely designed fragrance. In “Einstein’s Club”, engineering game tournaments were held non-stop. The participants in the festival also became familiar with an ornithopter invented by Leonardo da Vinci, and in a technology-savvy “Newton’s Garden”, they could listen to a dynamic acoustic riddle from a sound tree loudspeaker and take a snapshot photo.
