16.05.2022

Kursk Branch of NIKIMT-Atomstroy JSC (part of Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division - general designer and general contractor of Kursk NPP-2) has organized a subbotnik at the shoreline of Kursk water reservoir within the framework of All-Russia Environmental Project “Green Spring-2022”. Over one hundred people from NIKIMT-Atomstroy JSC, RosSEM Trust LLC, Vtorsyrye LLC, ECO-generation teams and city residents of Kurchatov, participated in the event.

The subbotnik started from an environmental lesson “Separate collection of waste” for beginners and morning exercises. The participants of the event collected 834 kg of glass, 79 kg of plastic and 12 kg of tin. All the funds raised from the collected waste handed over for recycling will be traditionally spent on charity projects.

NIKIMT-Atomstroy JSC has been organizing such events for three years already. The area for cleaning was not chosen randomly: the shore line of Kursk water reservoir is part of the observation area of Central Black Earth State Natural Biosphere Reserve named after professor V.V. Alekhin. This area is populated by over 100 species of birds, 1000 types of plants, 13 of which are on the Red List, including 8 types of orchids.

For reference: “Green Spring” Environmental subbotnik is the largest environmental and socially significant event in Russia.  The project has been implemented by Non-governmental Environmental Fund named after V.I. Vernadsky from 2014. Every year the subbotnik unites over one million people, this year it is held from April 23 to May 23.
