Atomenergoproekt Has Won the Russia Awards 2022 IP Prize

The intellectual property management team of Atomenergoproekt JSC (AEP belongs to the Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division) has won the IP Russia Awards 2022 which is the 4th Russian prize in the field of intellectual property. Atomenergoproekt took the second prize in “The Best Strategy for Protecting the Intellectual Deliverables (RD) in the Fuel&Energy Complex” nomination, and won the Bronze in “The Effective Strategy for RD Portfolio Management” nomination, respectively.

The Intellectual Property Department submitted to the competition the “Legal Safeguard of the Technology of NPPs Equipped with VVER-1200 Reactor Plants, in the Russian Federation and Abroad” project. The project was launched at the end of 2014 as part of the Rosatom State Corporation general activity to ensure the comprehensive legal safeguard of key products and basic technologies of the nuclear industry abroad. It aims to develop a safeguard strategy and build up a portfolio of rights for the basic VVER-1200 technology while foreign trade contracts for NPP construction are being implemented.

As part of the project, AEP has received 165 foreign patents (at the same time, about 400 national and regional claims for inventions are under consideration by foreign patent offices and continue to be examined in more than 30 countries), 55 Russian patents for inventions and 6 Russian utility patents, respectively. Moreover, 67 computer programs, 11 databases, 4 know-hows (with extra 12 ones remaining in registration through the end of the year), 79 works of science in the form of R&D results have been issued.

The results obtained under the project have contributed to consolidating the leadership of Russian nuclear technologies and made it possible to ensure the comprehensive legal safeguard of implemented solutions in the existing and advanced projects of VVER-equipped NPPs, both in Russia and abroad. In total, over 30 companies belonging to various business areas have taken part in the competition, including Roskosmos SC, Gazpromneft JSC, Kalashnikov Concern, Progress Russian Space Centre, Tomsk State University, Cherkizovo Group, SUEK, X5 Retail Group , BIOCAD and others.

The competition jury selected and evaluated more than 40 applications. The project’s novelty, innovative and unique character, the results achieved versus the time consumed, the economic effect of project implementation were primarily given a high rating.

The IP Russia Awards was established in 2019 by Infor-media Russia, a member of the Trinity Events Group of Companies, to organize the Intellectual Property Forum.
