Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division (the general designer and general contractor of Belarus NPP) has organized the Nuclear Town Day in Ostrovets for the sixth time. This year, the town of Belarus nuclear experts celebrates its 556th anniversary.
The highlight event of the Town Day was a scientific and educational festival Universe No. 556, organized jointly with the network of Nuclear Energy Information Centers, where anybody who wants to could feel as true engineers, compare the advantages of various sources of “green” energy and plunge into the world of quantum technologies. As part of the festival, there was a quest “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. The guests were also welcomed by robots: octopus Vasily and bionic dogs.
Interactive photo areas, different entertainment locations worked at the holiday and concerts by Belarussian bands were held. During the official part, the best students of Robotics summer school were awarded with diplomas.
The Town Day gathered together more than 10,000 people. The holiday visitors were greeted by Sergey Medzvetskas, the chairman of District Executive Committee. “It has become a good tradition to spend the Town Day together with our partners from Rosatom. I’d like to express gratitude to the people who have given us this present of a holiday,” he noted.
“Over the years of Belarus NPP construction, Ostrovets has become the most up-to-date, trendy and cool place, and all of this is our merit. More than 150 initiatives were implemented in the region with participation of nuclear industry companies. I wish the Ostrovets residents successful projects and development, while keeping your family spirit and integrity,” said Natalia Bakushkina, ASE JSC Vice President – Director for Belarus NPP Construction.
In parallel to the holiday activities, an exhibition of the international photo competition “ASE International Photo Awards” was held. Representatives of Belarus student teams traditionally worked as volunteers at the celebration.
The Town Day ended with a holiday concert.
