On July 10, the labor semester began at Rooppur NPP construction site (the People’s Republic of Bangladesh) for members of student construction teams formed in the core universities of Rosatom. For two months, they will be involved in the processes of the NPP construction. In addition to the skills of construction and installation works, the students will gain experience in preparation of catalogs, keeping records of design and working documentation, participate in the processes of incoming inspection of equipment and materials supplied to the site and learn the specific features of RPS engineering.
In the nearest future, the labor semester of student construction teams will start at El-Dabaa NPP (the Arab Republic of Egypt) and Kudankulam NPP (the Republic of India).
At El-Dabaa NPP, where four power units are being built simultaneously, students under the guidance of experienced supervisors from divisions of ASE JSC Branch in Egypt, in addition to planning and monitoring of the progress of construction and installation works at the start-up facilities complexes of the units, will gain experience of work with various types of documentation.
At Kudankulam NPP, the student labor semester will resume after a five-year break. The main tasks of students at this site are engineering and technical works, including assistance to the NPP designer supervision service, analysis and preparation of proposals for correcting working documentation, participation in start-up and adjustment works.
Members of the student construction team at another facility of Rosatom Engineering Division, Kursk NPP-2, have already started their work. The students are involved in construction and installation works, maintaining the time schedule of works performance and issue of as-built documentation.
About 150 students will be working at four construction sites of the Engineering Division during the labor semester of 2024. An extensive program of cultural events outside working hours has been prepared for them at all the construction sites.
For reference:
The first student construction team of Rosatom was formed during the implementation of Unit No. 2 of Rostov NPP in 2008 and included 25 people. The first foreign construction site for student construction team was Belarus NPP in 2013. In 2014, Rosatom State Corporation and Russian Student Teams signed an agreement on cooperation, which gave an impetus to the development of the student teams. Over 15 years, more than 17 thousand students have been involved in nuclear industry projects at 29 construction sites, of which 22 are located in Russia and seven overseas (Turkey, Belarus, China, India, Egypt and other countries).
The managers of the Interregional Student Construction site “Peaceful Atom” are traditionally the Industrial Center for Capital Construction of Rosatom, the HR Policy Department of Rosatom State Corporation, together with the ANO Rosatom Corporate Academy and the Youth All-Russian Public Organization Russian Student Teams. The project is meant to maximize the potential of students, their practical knowledge of the industrial construction complex and Rosatom enterprises.
