The unique scientific and education AtomMove festival was held in Paks (Hungary) on February 15, 2026. The event was organized by Engineering Division of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (general contractor and general designer of Paks NPP project) with support of network of Atomic Energy Information Centers (AEIC).
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice President of ASE JSC - Paks NPP Construction Project Director Vitaly Polyanin, Vice Mayor Nagy Balázs, Co-chairman of TEIT Association Gáncs István and Head the industry-wide “Rosatom School” project Natalia Shurochkova.
This year, the topic of the festival was familiarizing oneself with nuclear technologies through all senses. The motto of the festival was “Look, listen, touch, taste - and feel atomic love”.
AtomMove included five areas corresponding to the concept of the event. The “Look” area was represented by exhibition of the winners of ASE International Photo Awards. The “Listen” area presented quizzes “Sounds of NPP” and “Voice of a Scientist”, performances of Hungarian musical groups and art studio “Joy”. Master classes for creation of shoppers with nuclear patterns, matryoshka doll painting, making bracelets and magnets, nuclear mosaic were organized in the “Touch” area, and gingerbread painting - in the “Taste” location. The “Collect” zone was intended for those who wanted to participate in creating NPP models from cardboard and in engineering games.
The central event of the festival was the scientific show “Miracle Laboratory” with experiments that make it possible to demonstrate simple yet fascinating facts about physics and chemistry. The day was full with sports flash mobs, quizzes and performances of Hungarian artists. The festival was visited by over one thousand people, including Russian and Hungarian families.
“After working for 36 years in the nuclear industry I understand that the biggest value in our profession is the people. Those who created the nuclear industry, who develop it now and who will come after us. We are working for the benefit of our countries with support of our families, and our large nuclear family. In February, the pouring of “first concrete” started a new stage of construction of the new power units of Paks NPP, and I am very glad that the success of the project makes it possible for us to meet more often and get to know each other better”, said Vitaly Poplyanin, Director of Paks-II NPP Porject, at the opening of the festival.
