Description
The intergovernmental agreement about cooperation in the area of construction of Rooppur NPP, the first NPP project in Bangladesh, was signed in November 2011. The Customer selected the Novovoronezh NPP-2 as a reference one for this project. This is an evolutionary GenIII+ design which entirely meets all Russian and international safety requirements. This project features the optimal combination of active and passive safety systems.
On December 25, 2015, the General contract was signed for construction of Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh. The document stipulates the parties’ obligations and responsibilities, dates and procedure for implementaiton of all works and other conditions of NPP construction.
On November 04, 2017, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulating Authority (BAERA) granted the Rooppur NPP construction license to the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC). This document approves safety of the project chosen by the Bangladesh Party and allows the beginning of the Rooppur NPP construction.
